Pattern-matched wallpaper across three loft bedrooms and a reception room
Three children's loft bedrooms and a ground-floor reception room, each papered in a different pattern — hot air balloons, a pirate/nautical print and a woodland-animal print upstairs, and a Morris-style floral print as a wall band downstairs above painted panelling.
- Housing type
- Period house, loft conversion with vaulted dormer ceilings
- Completed
- September 2026

The problem
Every upstairs room has a steep vaulted or dormer ceiling with multiple angle changes, which is where a repeat pattern most easily goes visibly out of alignment — a print that doesn't match at the apex or around a dormer cheek is obvious from the middle of the room, not just up close.
What we did
Set out each ceiling with a laser line before the first drop went up so the pattern repeat was planned around the apex and dormer returns rather than corrected for afterwards, then hung and pattern-matched every seam by hand. The reception room's floral paper was hung as a band above newly painted wall panelling, matched around two window reveals and a chimney breast.
Materials used
- Pattern-repeat wallpaper (hot air balloon, nautical and woodland-animal prints)
- Morris-style floral non-woven wallpaper, reception room
- Heavy-duty paste for non-woven papers
- White painted wall panelling and woodwork, reception room
